Default wheelspin/power

Hi,

Should an 850 t5 auto be able to wheelspin in the dry? all other t5"s we have owned (manual) would spin up rather easy when pushed, just wondering if its due to it being an auto or if it is down on power?

Craig.

I had a blue map in mine and would wheel spin off the line and definitely in the set.

The make and type of tyres make a huge difference here !

I always run mine on Goodyear F1 / Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and all my 3 70's cars are automatic.

< 40mph - boot it below this and mine spins.
On dry and cold tarmac I've had the traction control light kicking in around 75mph.

Its also worth noting the chassis is very old and was never a T5 engine's best friend.

Mine are very sensitive to boost hoses not being touched and even remotely kinked etc. If yours seems a bit off the pace could be slight boost leak, kinked hoses, engine sensors/coils/injector not 100% efficient, leaky gaskets etc.

if you've got crap tyres then yes, it will wheel spin in the dry, decent tyres and it shouldn't.

A 1.0 Citroen C1 with slightly more power than a lawnmower will wheel spin when you put the 'power' down with the right tyres

Tyers are firestone with around 5mm on them, car is over 20 years old with over 200k on it, so will be down on power at a guess, just miss it not spinning up like the manuals, but i am likeing the autobox.

Craig.

The tyres are doing their job then , gripping .. Old turbo volvos don't loose power with age , quite the opposite ! It goes like a rocket no doubt ...
