It's 10 mpg worse than our diesel in which we hope to do 200,000 miles. The cost difference for fuel during this period of ownership at current prices would be around £10,000.

That CO is really high, they must be measuring it differently as it is above Euro 6 limits for petrol published in the UK. In the UK the max is 1.0 g/km. Sure there is not a point in there somewhere?

The D5 tow limit is 2000kg.

I doubt any diesel XC60 can do 36-40 mpg in town. I never even went above 32 mpg as an avg in my 2009 D5!

Nope. The official CO2 value for the XC60 T5 is 157 and is Euro 6. Also in the UK brochure btw

This is a 2016 D4 automatic and used predominantly for 'going around the local shops' it indicates an average of 39 mpg. It's some time since it went near a motorway or even a dual carriageway so I can't say what its best mpg would be.

That CO2 is absolutely pants, compared to my D2 and D5! It must be the early version of Euro 6 as it has 3 levels of emissions decreasing by date.

My 1991 940 TD auto used to do 33 mpg around town compared to my 1984 2.3 petrol 245 manual which did 18 mpg. Our petrol 1.3 Yaris auto did 33 mpg around town and our 1.6 diesel DSG V40 did about 50 mpg in town. That's the only comparison I can do as I don't drive in town any more.

The new XC60 t5 has 167 CO2, but that's awd so I'm guessing fwd might be lower.

You guys are talking about Carbon Dioxide and the measurement on my V5 is Carbon Monoxide. That's why the figure looks so different.

Carbon Dioxide is vitally important for physical health. Carbon Monoxide isn't.

Not bad in such case. The new D4 engine is very good in any case. Our figures are from using the instant readout or the cumputer thingy. The actual avg since new is 29mpg but that is of course for everything incl lots of high speed runs (100+).

CO2 on a petrol is usually higher than a diesel.

Wife's previous V40 D4 had a value of 136 any my previous BiTdi 166. New S6 which of course is a petrol have 224. In Germany cars are taxed very differently than in the UK....my S6 costs less than the BiTdi. Perhaps the reason why they sell more petrols than diesels here?! But personally I dont care about the CO2. If I want a car, I buy to enjoy, not worrying about a few £££ on tax, CO2 etc. Eventually we will all be forced to drive electric.....

I think you are looking at the new 2017 model, yes? Ours is a 2016 model and at the time was not offered with AWD. That came about two months after we took delivery. Then another two months later it was gone and the T5 went back to being a FWD.

There is only one gas that is vitally important for physical health, actually life as well as health, and that is oxygen.

CO2 is a produced as a result of complete combustion or organic processes, e.g. breathing, and will kill you just as surely as CO which is produced as a result of incomplete combustion. Neither are good for the planet and both have caused massive climate changes in the geological past.

Sorry, I wasn't sufficiently specific, ours is AWD so it has the 5 cylinder engine. But we have used summer Pirelli Scorpion Verdes all year because we haven't been able to detect problems with grip and they probably flatter fuel consumption figures. The instant readout from new was 38 mpg but it has crept up.
