Start with the throttle body on slow start.

DPF top up £80 -100 - ensure they have access to VIDA as it needs resetting to tell them the tank has been topped up.

Regarding the tyres; don't overlook the Pirelli P7 Cinturato I've just had 4 fitted and now they've scrubbed-in a bit they feel great, they are well priced, long lasting and are getting very positive reviews.

Thanks Ninja, I'll be sure to mention this on Friday when I go back.
I know fenton_jd told me a couple of years back about the DPF to ensure it's topped up every 36,000 ..but I only started getting the "Engine System Service Required' dashboard warning very recently. I've covered 48,500.

Welton, I checked the Pirelli site and it seems they only do those up to 17" as GusGecko suggested. But thanks.
The P Zero Nero's are what's on the car right now and I believe they are all-weather, so should be fine.

I'm probably most concerned with the oil/diesel leak. They couldn't determine what it was on first inspection, so they're doing further diagnostics on Friday when I go back to get the brakes done.
They did tell me the leak was minor however. Can't say I've noticed any signs of leakage where the car sits in the drive.

I have another question regarding the brakes.

I should also point out that the quote I posted at the start was also for rear discs and pads. So discs and pads all-round.

My next question is..
For the age of the car 2005, is it worth spending the extra for genuine Volvo brakes or OE? (OE brand is Apec I believe)
£372 fitted, incl VAT OE
£412 fitted, incl VAT Volvo

[edit]
The reason there's only £40 of a difference is that the genuine Volvo parts were quoted (delivered) from Rufe, FRF Volvo Parts, inclusive of the forum discount. If I was to have had the same genuine Volvo parts fitted at my local non-Volvo dealer it would cost me £92.29 extra!
The more I think about this, I still think I'm breaking the bank with the OE parts and everything else I'm getting done, so regretfully I'm probably going to stick with this. Would have preferred to have gone with Volvo parts though.

Fit genuine Volvo.

You won't get any squeeling with original parts.

Also don't forget (as has already been mentioned) about DPF additive and software reset if applicable.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't afford the genuine volvo brakes.
turns out, there was a difference of about £95 in the end, between Volvo and OE parts for discs and pads all-round. My car seems to be costing me a small fortune right now for only having done 2730miles in the last 2yrs and I wasn't able to afford an additional £95 on the brakes.

The OE brakes that were fitted have made a massive difference and I'm pleased with them so far.

I discussed with them about resetting the warning on the dash regarding the DPF and they tell me this will all be reset.

At the moment I'm still dealing with an oil leak. I was back at the garage today after they had power washed my engine last time I was there. So they have now confirmed it's oil, not diesel. I'm told it's the rocker/valve cover gasket. (?)
So, I'm going back once again to my 2nd home (the garage) on Tuesday of next week (4th time in 10 days) to have that replaced, costing an estimated £75.
Only once this work has been carried out and I've driven the car for "about a week" will they then be satisfied there are no further leaks and THEN they tell me they will do the DPF. (which is around £80 - £100)

I've had to postpone my 2 new tyres for now, and the "vehicle sounds slow to start" (yet to be diagnosed), which I personally can't notice.

Rocker cover gasket replaced at a cost of £85 inclusive. Now asked to run the car for 7 days to check on oil leak before going back to have the DPF topped up.

Running total spent this month £505 (so far)
