Re: the comment on corroding bolts from pipe to cat. I don't have a cat, but when bolting down pipe (mild steel) to the stainless system (on my 760) I used stainless bolts and nuts. These have not corroded at all. In fact I had no problem undoing them and re-using them last year (when engine had to come out). The bolts and nuts had been in for 8 years.

Thumbs up Update - emissions

Since my posting re the Powerflow exhaust and sports cat, I can report that my 940T flew through its MoT at the weekend - the emissions were so low (despite the 'Group A' 100 cell, straight through cat) that he reset the equipment as he thought it was giving a bad reading

HCs were 19ppm (limit 1200ppm) and CO -0.05% (limit +3.5%). I must admit that I thought that the cat would not be as efficient as a 'full' 200+ cell one so I'm very relieved!

Had one advisory which I'm not looking forward to tackling - handbrake cables starting to fray. I've heard these are a bit of a headache.

Considering she's 13 years old and has done over 130k miles its not a bad result!

Great to hear your 945 passed MOT. BTW is it the LH, the RH or both handbrake cables frayed? I think one cable is a short one, accessable easily at the diff area. I thought it was the V90 Handbrake cable which was difficult to replace, possibly due to the IRS fitted to those cars.

Hi Ivor,

It was a written advisory against the long one, and a verbal 'the other one won't last much longer either', so I'll be doing both just to be safe. She needs a fluid change too - although she passed the MoT with flying colours, I know the brake pedal is softer than it used to be.

I think you're right about it being the IRS versions which are awkward - thanks for reminding me of that Ivor, I don't feel so bad about starting it now!

All the best,
