Strange SRS light and associated problem
I have a 1995 960 2.5l auto.
I turned the ignition on and started to drive off, then I noticed that the SRS light was on. Bugger (I thought) off to the dealer for a check. Then I noticed that the stereo would not work, and the whole heater/AC unit would not blow or work. I pulled over to the side of the road to think what to do next and put the car into park. As Soon as I put the car into park the SRS light went out and the stereo and heater sprang into life. Haven't had any more probs since. Anyone else had similar things happen? and if so why? Cheers. |

Hi following text from 700/900 FAQ ( on Brickboard.com or on our own site). A guy had ABS light on with code for "Crash sensor or wiring u/s "(1-1-2 ) He found following snag. It is the power source for the ABS light which is interesting. Maybe Peter Milne can help with further diagnosis:
" I studied the wiring diagram for the SRS system and discovered that the power for the SRS light comes from the dashboard not the SRS system which turns the light out when no fault codes are stored. So if there were no power to the system the light would stay on. I cleaned the contacts of the yellow or orange connector, where there was power, which is under the carpet of the transmission tunnel driver's side. I then cleared the trouble codes (see below) and everything checked out fine. That was over a year ago and the light reacts normally. The manual did not mention this as a possible cause. I hope this explanation will help you and others with "bad" sensors " ivor940 |
