Starting Security Code
Had a thought today at work when my team jokingly said they have had my car out for a spin because I had left car keys on my desk.
Thought to myself “does my car have a pin number to protect from key theft?” How hard would it be for Volvo to set up a pin number input on touch screen to tap a pin after twisting start knob? I wouldn’t mind the extra couple of seconds it would take to input and it would cut down on car theft. Have I just had a brilliant idea or are car makers not bothered about security?

My phone has finger print technology. Up to three fingers on both hands. Three separate accounts if needed. Get in the car, touch a pad and away you go!

Reminds me of old mate of mine (how many years I haventvseen him now...)
Different world- motorbikes. He had one of first Hayabusas when they came out. And of course everyone wanted a spin. Every time someone asked, he was just giving out the keys, saying "sure, start it and you can have a go" No one managed. Only the ones "in the know" were aware of few rules he had. No one, but no one touches his gloves, wears his gloves, moves his gloves. Bike won't start without right glove present. And no one talks about it (after all these years I think I can, though) Immobiliser sender sewn into it...

PIN codes and thumbprints are all a bit fancy, on our old (1980) Ford Fiesta I just fitted a switch in an available slot in the dash and cut into the ignition circuit. The fiesta could be opened by a child with a lolly stick but if they didn't know what the switch was they couldn't start it, it worked on a couple of occasions when the car was broken in to but not nicked. I did on one occasion have to leave it in the yard at work and so the others could move it if it was in the way left the keys in the office, only when I got back at the end of the day and they cursed me for having to push my car around did I realise I hadn't told them about the switch
