Default Tyre Storage

Folks,

Quick question, bought an extra set (4) of tyres due to discounts, accordingly how should I store them, standing-up on the tread, or on the side walls (in a dark garage).

Thanks Buck

You're not supposed to store them standing on the tread. Not sure why, I can't imagine it would really cause any problems. If you think about tyre dealers, they all stack them on their sides on racks.

You can deform the tread if you store them upright. My Carlton hibernates for the winter and I bought some shaped trolleys to keep the tyres correct shape as I got fed up of the flat spots!
I store my winter wheel and tyres on their side, and they are fine when I come to use them.
