Looking to buy XC90.. Need advice ...

Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a Volvo XC90 and just needed some advice.

I am either looking to buy the D5 or an LPG converted T6. Will be grateful if you can advise on the following:

• What are the most common problems?
• What is the cambelt interval?
• What should i be checking in particular when I view the car?
• Should I go for the D5 or LPG converted T6?

common problems- AWD issues(Dem),angle box sleeve, gearbox if you don't look after(read listen to people from Volvo service), some electrical/electronic problems in my05, noisy vibrations around navi panel, key blade spring gets broken quite often.
cambelt every 96k or 10 years (80-100 quid on ebay)
should check everything above plus check like for every different car
d5 is a bit underpowered, t6 slightly doesn't match auto gearbox(power and torque)
best engines are 3.2 non turbo straight 6, or 4,4 v8 (made by Yamaha specially for Volvo, with different angle of cylinder bank)
one little problem is road tax for vehicles made after 2006- over 400 pounds(paying 245 quid for 2004 xc90 d5 now)

It's my understanding that the majority, if not all, of the AWD issues have been with the pre-facelift versions. I would try and aim for a post 2006 model that have the indicators in the wing mirrors and the square indicators on the rear.
