Default Mid Service Safety Inspection

Hi,
I have just been offered a 'free' mid-service safety inspection at the dealer who conducts the annual service on my MY10 XC90. (18mths old).

Having grown up in Scotland and being told 'there is no such thing as a free lunch' I am slightly cynical as to why the dealer is offering this 'free' service - if not to generate a whole load of business.

Have other owners been offered this service and what have your experiences been?

Thanks

I haven`t found the safety inspection to be a way to encourage spending my money by the dealer but I have really failed to see its worth. literally it is car up on the ramp visual check and tyre pressures, fluids etc, basically most of the things you could do yourself in 10 minutes.
