Question V60 dog grille - lock in place?

I’ve always used Travall dog guards before as I prefer the grid to the tubular style, but I’ve given in with my new V60 and bought an extremely expensive Volvo dog guard.

The thing is, although my own dogs are very well behaved, I transport rescue dogs on weekends. Some are too large to fit the max sized crate I can fit in the V60 so can only be harness lined behind the dog guard. If they’re panicky they will scrabble at the guard and I can’t see how to stop them being able to actually flip it up towards the roof.

Is there meAnt to be a way to lock it in the down position for safety?

Thanks
Paula

If it's the same as my xc70 no. You could of course strap it to the rear headrests which would be viable in the xc70.

Thanks Paul

I am disappointed. It seems a basic design error for a safety grille but I’ll see what I can do to make it secure

I think it's described as a luggage rack and is to stop items from the load area flying into the passenger area in the event of an accident. It's design fulfils that function but as you say it could be inaffective as a dog guard.

On the van I use webbing straps with a spring loaded buckle to secure light loads, quick and easy to fit and remove but certainly strong enough to retain the biggest dog behind the guard. In the xc70 I would go around the bottom bar and rear headrests and have the buckle in the passenger area unless the rear seats were to be used at the same time. In this way, even if you were rear ended and unable to open the tailgate the guard could be lifted and the seat back dropped to retrieve the dog as you are able to release the buckle easily from within the car.
