Default Borg Warner 35 Workshop Manual

Hi,

Recently bought a 145 Auto project with BW35 box, so whilst we are in the depths of winter, I have been Googling various topics that may come in useful next year. Unusually last night I stumbled across this 76 page workshop manual by Borg Warner.

https://volvo1800pictures.com/docume...anual/bw35.pdf

Hopefully this may be of useful information for anyone with a car equipped with the BW 35.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Derek,

Thank you, that’s most interesting, and I will definitely have a further delve into the site.

All this wonderful info that must be out there, it’s just knowing where to look.

Cheers

That is so true, Steve!

Reminds me of the chap who took an old pocket watch which had stopped to the jewellers.

The watchmaker removed the back, inspected the watch for a moment, blew carefully into the movement, replaced the back and wound it up before handing it back to it's owner working perfectly.

How much do I owe you, asked his customer. Twenty pounds, said the watchmaker.

Twenty pounds for blowing into the watch, asked his customer incredulously. No, said the watchmaker, one pound for blowing into the watch, nineteen pounds for knowing where to blow.

Even now, well into my seventies, I am constantly reminded of my own limitations by those more knowledgeable than I!

Regards, John

John,

Wise words indeed, knowledge is power, as they say.

Since joining Volvo ownership in 2021, the information on this forum in the FAQ pages is a wonderful source of information. Generally, if I haven’t been able to find out, then someone somewhere knows the answer. The only problem is that these chaps don’t go on forever, and the preservative of information or knowledge is only perhaps appreciated once it’s lost.

I have seen many remarks about Volvo Green Books and there must be all sorts of historic service / maintenance guides produced in period. It would be great if there was a central site that pulls together all this stuff. Daresay Mr Volvo (Geely) these days wouldn’t be interested in digitising any archives, but would be good if clubs in UK / USA / EU could somehow coordinate.

Could also apply the clubs sourcing parts for remanufacture. I did see on a 140 International Facebook page, as chap was remaking the quarter light hinge and fixing, and was looking for possible number of interested owners. The original blueprints I assume are with Volvo, if they could be digitised, then clubs could remanufacture virtually anything needed.

Suppose it comes down to cost / benefit…….

Cheers
Steve
