Default OBX 850 exhaust (angled flange downpipe only)

Hi folks,

has anyone here got the OBX exhaust and used it on their straight-flange turbo, leaving them with a spare angle-flange downpipe/flexi-joint?

In fact, has anyone got an unfitted OBX angle-flange downpipe that they'll be using themselves? Even borrowing one would be a help...

Anyway, if you might be able to help please get in touch.

Thanks, Pete

Hiya,

I've installed the IPD turbo-back today, but I'm having clearance issues with the angle-flange downpipe and the steering crash guard.

I believe the OBX and IPD systems are very similar (at least from pictures), so was wondering if I try an OBX downpipe whether that will clear...

Cheers, Pete

TBH mate I think there are the same exhaust.

If I remember correctly AlanM had the same problem when he fitted the OBX crap.Try removing the crash guard.

Not suited to our RHD cars.

There do seem to be small differences, at least the tail pipe is welded on for the OBX but is separate for the IPD. On the IPD video them mention fire rings (?) giving better sealing with the V bands - certainly it clamps together very well but I don't know how much better than the OBX.

Also the OBX pictures on eBay seem to show no cat, the IPD has a 200 cell per inch cat in the straight pipe.

I'll have a go with the steering crash guard, but I have some reservations about the safety implications. The curved 'C' shape would be able to remain I think, but the upright/vertical portion would have to go or have some cutting, possibly relocating the rear bolt point between the two.

I might see if that's a temporary solution till I find a better one - I should be contacting IPD tomorrow for their advice.

Cheers, Pete
