Hi, just re read your article. This question is asked out of curiosity only. Instead of using your resisters could one not just connect a 6volt 30 watt bulb installed somewhere out of sight? FYI i have no intention of doing this.

Using 6V30W lamp as a Dropping Resistor is possible, but only when the 6V load is also 30W...your idea would not work if load was other than 30W...because the point is to drop half the 12V on the DR, leaving half for the load. So the resistance of the DR must always equal that of the load...naturally, that doesn't take into account that lamps sometimes just fail...then that load would become unavailable... ...but its good that it got you thinking...!
