I was interested to read of your experience. I wonder if the layout is different on the XC models is different to the V models? It's a while back, but I removed the foglight grill on my V70 and didn't think I'd be able to access the pump/filter. I can't remember what I did in the end, but your post has awakened my interest in case there's another blockage. I do remember the corrugated pipes being pretty crusty, and felt fragile. Some time later things blocked again, and this time my indie replaced a whole section pipe behind the front bumper.

Last month the drivers jet started behaving poorly. Still getting fluid but no pressure.
Blew the lines through from the T pice as passnger side fine. No difference.
Stripped the L-pice out and tried to clean, no difference. Did my best to clean the bonnet jet....no difference.
Drilled the L-piece....worse! No fluid at all so can confimr the above is not a good idea.
New L-Pice fitted and I'm back to the start...I'm getting fluid out but not at any pressure.

The bonnet jet seems to be firmly stuck in place---is there a way to remove or clean it in situe?

Lift the bonnet, press firmly on the washer nozzle and push away from you. Make sure you disconnect the pipework.

Job done, it's easy in the end.

The car is a V70 2014 MY with Xenon headlights with headlight washers.

Purchased a new pump made by Febi Bilstein 34863 on Ebay, about £13. Comes with the rubber grommet/filter, which is important if you do what I did....

Method.

Jack up front left to good height, rear wheel lifted as well. Axle stand added for my safety :-)
Remove wheel
Remove bottom 5 Torx (T20) screws from front of wheel arch liner including the one on the bottom edge
Pull out arch liner which should hold itself 'open' on brake caliper.
You will see the headlight washer pump strainght in front of you with only 1 pipe from it.
Next to it the level sensor.
Then down the left between the washer bottle and the bumper is the windscreen pump. It pulls out almost totally towards the side of the car.
Pull it out with pipes and electical connector in place.
Remove the rubber grommet/filter - I managed to poke mine into the bottle never to be seen again hence why I recommend to have one to hand.
Pump still connected will then pull back towards where you hand / wrist is and you will have easy access to disconnect electrical connector and pull the pipes off.

Refitting
Spray of ACF50 on electrical connectors :-) you don't have to do that but helps prevent corrosion.
Remove the filter from pump and fit that into the tank (clean tank area first to avoid dragging in debris. You can use a torch to see it is fully home. I tried to put it in with the pump to start with, could not push it fully home.
Fit pump into filter in tank - use torch again to check it's fully home.
Fill - check for leaks
Test and smile when your washers work again.
Refit arch liner wheel etc (140Nm on wheel bolts)

Very easy in the end, don't see how going in from underneath would actually make it easier.
Only bumper removal would make it easier, but it really wasn't hard just through the arch liner.

If anyone is going to clean the filter only I would consider just splashing out £13 on new pump inc filter and just change them as it is obviously a part that fails from time to time so good to change as preventative maintenance.

I dissected the dead pump tonight out of interest.

Actual failure due to one of the motor brushes falling off, but the electrical part of the pump was very damp so that wouldn't do it any good over time.

FoMoCo quality....
