Angry Help!!!

Hi All, Need some help please, just bought V70 W reg, Itdrives well but an hour after picking it I noticed the revs lumpy and up and down on Idle, and then stalled . I returned it to place we bought it. I phoned a volvo mechanic beforehand and he said sounds like ETM.

He suggested asking them to clean it and if it improves you will at some stage need replacement. They said they cleaned and it was running pefectly, I picked it up and it was no different, They are going to book it in with a Volvo main dealer, is there anything else that could cause these symptoms.

First thing to do is to see if it has it got the Magneti Marelli ETM fitted ?

If it has check to see what colour paint it has on one of the end panels!
if it has white paint it has not been replaced, if it is yellow it has been replaced at some time in its life!

Also get the fault codes checked out and see if there are any fault codes that relate to the ETM!

Welcome to the wonderful world of V70 ETM issues..............you are not on your own!

lift the bonnet up, sttod at the front of the car u will see the inlet manifold, directly under this attached to the manifold u will see a rectangle unit, this is the ETM, there will either be a white sticker (original) or yellow sticker (replacement). u can see the unit and sticker without removing anything.

get the codes read before anything is done, its not just the ETM that can cause lumpy tickover
