Default 4 pot update.

Well it has been a longtime coming, but today i fitted my 4 pots in the first trial, The brackets had been a longtime coming but the wait was well worth it, I did initially buy some bracket blanks from Germany but these weighed in at over 1.5kg each before drilling and tapping the holes, the brackets i had fabricated up weigh in at 500 grams each exactly, that is a massive saving in weight even against the standard 302mm brackets,
Here are a couple of pics,
At the moment i have decided to run these with a 302mm disc, but i do have the option of fitting the 330mm disc if need be,

Gary.

Gary,

With the standard 302s, what benefits are you getting from the caliper upgrade?

I have a few things that will become better by fitting the 4 pots, 4 pistons instead of the one, also the cost of pads will be a lot cheaper compared to a Volvo set, just for starters,

Gary,

Gary,
You must be planning on lots of sets of pads for the savings to pay for the cost of the upgrade!!

Looking at those calipers, are you going to be able to get them to fit around a set of s60r discs with new pads?

No the discs won't fit, as the S60R discs are 32mm and max i could fit would be a 30mm discs unless i start skimming pads, so that is a no no,

Gary.

Default Part 2 of the 4 pot install,

Part 2 of the 4 pot install,

Today i went to my friends workshop, anyway to the point, we fitted my new 302mm discs and the 4 pots to measure the distance for the spacer with the Comets, and i need a 14mm spacer and wheel bolts that are 44mm in thread length, compared to the standard 30mm, so i have found a supplier for these, but as funds are limited at the moment this will not be done untill January,
I have had to ruff it for now and put the standard calipers back on with Ferodo DS2500,
A couple of pics were taken today, when they are sent to me i will post them up,

Gary,

PS with a 15mm spacer the edge of the tyre is right on the limit as not to hit the inner lip of the wing , I will try it out with the standard brakes first to see if it will or won't rub with the spacers in place later next month.

I know that with 20mm you will get rubbing, so 14mm may be allright.

you could try a little bit of negative camber.

Default Long bolts, spacers....

Good evening Garry,

I have 40mm long studs in stock.

I usually carry Eibach 5mm and 15mm spacers, but only have the thin ones presently. They are the best as they have proper centre spigots...

See you Sunday...

Regards, Don.
