Default fuel filter replacement

hi i want to replace the fuel filter on my 2003 xc90. if i look under the rear offside near the tank i can see what looks to be a filter housing with a drain on the bottom. Is this it and if so how do i remove it does it screw. i have looked on various sites but they all show a different looking filter like an oil filter. thanks for help.

It is on the offside towards the rear and unscrews it will be very tight without doubt and will need a strap wrench (not chain wrench) and you will need plenty of muscle and you will probably think you are going to break it good luck.
Do when tank is less than half full.

Just to confirm...it will be bloody tight. Also I could not fit mine with the new rubber seal and had to keep the old seal when I replaced my filter last year.

Quick question what size strap wrench do i need for this? I've got a 53 plate and managed to drain the fuel from the filter, but could net get it off by hand... checked here and now I know why!

Available at all good outlets approx 12 inch long strap (DO NOT USE A CHAIN STRAP)

Also can I confirm what type of filter it is.. My local spares place checked on their computer with my reg no and a canister type came up.. But having been under the care today to change it I found what seems like a plastic housing with small bleed screw at the bottom. This makes me think that it's a paper cartridge.

Here's a pic:

one ordered thanks will be here tomorrow...I'll let you all know how it goes, seems it is the paper cartridge type but without the VIN they cant be 100% on mine... I have therefore made the decision myself after reading through the forums and the fact it looks like a plastic housing to me!
