Gloss black trim
I cant be the only one to be having this issue? Had my 2020 XC60 for almost a year now and Im noticing that all of the piano black trim is covered in hairline scratches from dusting. From a google search this seems to be a common problem with piano black trim in cars in general. Has anyone found a product(s) that can be used to polish it back to fresh?

Stuffs a nightmare, machine polishing seems to be the best way, then some form of protective coating.

Probably need to change the way the car is washed after the trims are sorted.
Clean the car without rubbing it until you have removed the larger particles, rinse then a snow foam then pressure off then use the two bucket method with a clean mitt. Don't use brush car washes or the brush at the local pressure wash. Depending on available time you have .

If you dont have access to a machine polisher a mild abrasive polish should bring them back up - applied by hand on a microfibre. Id suggest trying something like Meguiars Scratch-X.
Be sure to test an inconspicuous area first...

Is the OP not talking about the black trim in the interior?

That what I thought, bit much to spray snow foam inside the car.

I use VUPLEX on a soft microfiber cloth.
Cleans and protects, fills fine scratches. available from ebay and amazon. Last edited by HairyMonster; Jun 28th, 2020 at 15:38. |

I use glass cleaner on my interior black trim, works a treat. To be fair, I do the same on the exterior as they border the front and rear windows.
