From memory the AW spec sheet for the box states 350NM as the torque limit of the gearbox. That doesn't mean it will twist into swarf if you put 351NM through it but it does mean that it will not meet the OEM longevity and performance specs at 351NM.

It's the old argument though isn't it; is 351NM the "safe" limit? What about 352NM? What about 353NM? 380NM? 400NM?

There is also far more involved that simply peak torque; combustion is tightly controlled to keep instantaneous torque spikes and swings within limits for the engine, flywheel, gearbox, and other drivetrain components. This control is also one of the reasons why modern diesels are so much more refined than older ones.

Didn't Volvo offer a Polestar Map on it anyway, surely that has a bit more through it?

Yes, a 12% increase in power with the torque restrictions still present in the lower 3 gears to maintain some semblance of gearbox reliability.
