Might be tempted to see if I could get the car on to the level first to have a try or put a bit more fuel in. 5 lt won't raise the level much.

Hey Matt, I don't think I can help unfortunately. With my issue, once the car was started, it'd never cut out and if it was parked facing uphill, there would never be an issue.

The problem only presented itself when the car was either parked facing downhill (even with a fair bit of fuel in the tank) or on the flat with very low fuel.

I never took the fuel tank/pump apart, so don't know how much fuel you'd reasonably have to add to get it to start if the check valve had failed.
