Default V90CC Heating only works with Recirculation on

I have just purchased a V90 Cross Country 2018 model.
Even when the engine is warmed up, no warm air comes from any vents.
Increasing fan speed has no effect. Activating the Max Screen defrost button does not produce any air or heat.

If the Recirc button is activated, the heating behaves normally and warm air is blown to all the vents. De-activating Recirc makes the heating ineffective again.

Unless I am missing some heating control issue, I think there is a fault and wonder if there is anything I can check before I take it up with the retailer. I’ve searched this forum and tried Google without finding any similar reports.

How have you set your climate system up ?, I have aircon turned on, fan speed set to level 3 and climate on auto, temperature set at 23°c (at the moment) if you have rear climate ensure it is synchronised via voice control (synchronise climate or Synchronise temp)

Thanks for your reply.
Climate is set to Aircon on, Auto setting.
I have tried various manual settings for fan and vents but this made no difference. Temp is currently at 23 but I have tried it at higher temps, including max without success. I have also activated and de-activated synchro.

I’m not sure how the air inlet switches between outside air and recirculated air. Maybe there is an electric motor that has failed? Or it’s an electronic issue?
Is there a ‘reset to factory settings’ available?

Apart from your second para, I had a similar problem, then realised I had all the vents closed

Sounds as though there's an electrical failure, something's not activating when auto recirculation is switched on.

Thanks everyone. I’ve checked the vents and tried various control settings. I still have the problem and will contact the dealer for a diagnosis. I’ll post the outcome here.

The Volvo dealer was very helpful and fitted the car in at short notice. The diagnosis was that the motor that controls the fresh air flap was not working due to a software freeze and this has been fixed. I Dont know exactly what was done to get the system working again but at the moment, all is well.
