I'm pretty sure that your car will be one of the potentially affected models... have you tried putting your VIN into the Volvo recall website? https://www.volvocars.com/uk/own/mai...rranty/recalls

Good luck with getting the repairs done. My experience of having severe but random electrical problems repaired by a Volvo dealer was very positive once they got their expert on the job, although very expensive! https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=289206&page=5

Yeah put VIN in website and reg several times.....no recalls...

Car is under warranty so more bothered about the down time than the costs......

Part of an email from Volvo CS today.
I have checked your vehicle and unfortunately this has been effected by the recent Safety Notification.

Provided that you are not experiencing any of the symptoms such as loss of power, engine lights on, or a smell, then your car does not need to be taken off the road.

If you experience any of the symptoms described, please follow the guidance provided on our Q&A page https://www.volvocars.com/uk/own/mai.../notifications

There have been a number of corrective measures carried out which are improving this situation, but the complete solution is still under development at this time and is an urgent priority for Volvo Cars.

If you can confirm your address details and we will update our system with your correct information, and will contact you with details of the complete solution as soon as it is available.

Further news is most likely to become available by the new year.

I spoke to Sheffield's Volvo dealership in September, advising them of my XC60 randomly stalling, stuttering and lack of power. They didn't seem overly interested and said they'd have to schedule it in to take a look at to see if these symptoms are related to the recall. The impression I got was that I would be footing the bill for any fault-finding. The cynic in me thinks they will find issues and, whether or not related to to the recall, I'll end up paying.

As found using https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall today. I can't remember what was displayed on this site when I first received the vehicle safety notification letter. Does this mean there's been a development?

Outstanding recall found
This vehicle has been recalled since at least 20 November 2019.

Contact a VOLVO dealership to arrange for repairs.

If you've had the recalled component repaired recently, it can take up to 3 weeks for the manufacturer to update their records.

This information is provided by the vehicle manufacturer. If you think the information is wrong, contact the vehicle manufacturer's dealership. Please do not contact the DVSA, as we are not able to change the recall status.

on the other hand they could well end up doing over £1000 of work free ..... all it takes is the right fault code being there ..

Default Fault codes

Hi guys!
Checked my S60 D4 with OBD and had these codes
P047100
P200A00

Could these be related to Safety recall?
Thanks

Not the recall no ,
But P047100 is the exhaust manifold pressure sensor , needs cleaning and / or the pipe blowing out going to the manifold from the sensor , in bad cases it will need a new pipe .

P 200AOO is the swirl flap motor on the end of the inlet manifold , probably sooted up ... may need a new inlet manifold .
Both may still be covered by a policy if you have been getting yearly software updates to the ECU ..

The pre recall letter does say to take it in for inspection if the engine light is on so you might be lucky ...

Hello All

I couldn't see if this combination of issues has already been covered on this thread to do with the Volvo recall for the manifold...if so, apologies

My MY15 D4 had it routine 5th year service a fortnight ago at the Volvo dealers....all well. When I collected it the service staff said they would now book it in to rectify the potential manifold issue that triggered the recall ("We have just now been able to start getting cars back in to do the work and are booking in those who are coming in anyway for service"). It was booked for today.

When I went in this morning the worksheet said

"1: swirl throttle jammed (vacuum test;inlet valve seals check)
2: manifold upgrade"

Remembering a thread on here that checking the inlet valve seals seem recently and suddenly to have been added to the routine service checks, I commented that the fact of a stuck swirl valve was not listed on the service worksheet a fortnight ago. Reply: "Well, it wouldn't have been on your copy but that is part of why we booked you in for today". They more than implied that stuck swirl valves like this are/may be contributing to the fire risk issue at the manifold.

I have always been more than happy with this dealer (and still am). As I have a courtesy car for 3 days, it certainly looks as if very considerable work is involved at Volvo's expense.

Anyone else know about the swirl valves? (I seem to remember that ones that have broken up have wrecked complete engines as the bits went straight into the bores, and not just Volvos of course. One solution (usually by individuals) has been to simply remove them, but that affects performance and emissions. Manufacturers can't do that.

The swirl throttles can get sooted up and jam , it seems they have taken care of that if the manifold was replaced as the swirl flaps are part of the manifold .. Swirl flaps don't cause any engine damage on Volvos ..
