Default Dpf problem

Hi can someone please help, over the last couple of weeks I have spent around £1000 trying to get my car right at two garages, the first garage did a dpf clean, cleaned the sensors and also put a new gasket on the turbo, got the car home and had the same problem, the same garage then did a regen but still the car was in limp mode. Took it to another garage who then replaced a faulty sensor, refilled adaptive tank and recalibrated the system and guess what the car went back into limp mode and is showing p242f fault again showing, any suggestions please as to my next step, ps car is currently back at second garage awaiting another diagnostic check

The first garage said he had to purchase software for his diagnostic reader to fix the problem, the second garage in the past fitted a new dpf to my volvo v50 (2010) so I would assume they had the correct software but when I asked why the car still had the problem they were virtually telling me that they had done all they could. First garage £560.00 second garage £284.00

What did the first garage actually do to "clean" the DPF?
