S40/V50/C30/C70 reliability - better info

I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age.

We've had excellent participation by Volvo owners. But more remain needed to cover all models and model years of these cars. While most current members are in the U.S. and Canada, I'd like to have more from the UK.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for Volvos, for free. I'll share results in this thread after each update.

We've updated the results for the S40 and V50 to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 92

2004.5-
2005: 86

Both are about average.

Everyone who has been helping, thanks, I certainly appreciate it. We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise results and cover all model years.

I just went signed up, thinking that this could be interesting. Signed up, got email clicked through to add data but there's only 2.4i and T5 listed as as engine options...

The guy's in Michigan and in the US only the 2.4i and T5 have ever been sold as far as I'm aware.

What year and engine do you have? I've added all UK powertrains for many models and model years. Cannot recall offhand how far back I went with the S40, but will add UK powertrains for more model years if people are interested.

I'd be ticked off myself, and would like to find and fix whatever caused this to happen.

Can you contact me so I can try to sort out what happened? No doubt this isn't the first time it has happened, but people rarely let me know when they run into a bug.

2007 S40 1.6D - still not up there.
