A pretty amazing job it did The looks of the car are really growing on me too.

I still don't quite get AWD systems. Related to the comment on the AWD thread a week or two back: If you look in the video at around 8 minutes, just before they give up, the car is stuck with its nearside rear in mid air, but as he tried to continue forwards, the rear is spinning away in mid air while the front is barely moving. So why doesn't the AWD system sense this, break the rear wheel and try and move forward with more power to the front wheel?

Not enough torque.. I'd say stability control off + some pressing of the loud pedal- and he would have made it through.. Offroad mode would have helped too..

I know they make a big fuss about how competent it is, but is it just me or would it just drive up without incident if it had some proper tyres on? It doesnt look that steep and the snow isnt that deep either.....

Granted there wasn't much snow- but some sections are pretty steep..

I'm surprised they made it this far on these tires.. When he starts reversing he's got all 4 wheels locked and is sliding uncontrollably https://youtu.be/X9ViLzazDaU?t=10m9s

Its difficult to convey a steep slope on video. I've tried it many times and it always looks far less steep than it is.

Here's my Volvo on a slope. If I was above looking down with the camera, or below looking up, it just wouldn't look steep, but look at the other pictures, especially the one with the horizon.

It actually couldn’t, that’s the point. My Honda CRV 4wd fails to get up there, due to a combination of gearing and lack of traction.
