There is something more wrong ....your part number should be in the pic.if your a 2004 S60 and the numbers go on chassis number as well!
Are you 2004? |

Those code numbers are not for the B5254T2 engine either, atleast a quick look on volvopartsonline says that anyway:
8692071 is not for the B5254T2 engine. 30650379 is no longer available but wasn't for the B5254T2 engine either. 8642660 is also not for the B254T2 engine. From what I can tell it should only be 30751806. |

The 30650379 is for the T4 code engine which is the "R"
The 8692071 is for your engine but in a V70 model. The plugs are in a kit and these are kit number i have just realised ......the plug number 30751806 you have is probably correct. I have had about 12 Volvo`s and 5 turbo`s and i have never yet had a Volvo plug not perform but i have had others NGK/Bosch/ Champion giving crap performance. Don`t get me wrong nobody has to fit a Volvo plug but be it on there own head and don`t complain about unreliablity. I wouldn`t trust any non Volvo copy place just simply phone a Volvo Dealer and ask them. Last edited by 960kg; Dec 1st, 2013 at 15:03. |

Indeed, not saying plugs aren't important, doesn't help this was all muddied by incorrectly packaged plugs, I have contacted the seller and asked for a swap for the correct plugs.
No need to contact Volvo though, I have the correct code for the correct plugs, I was just given the wrong plugs, out of my hands. Thanks for insisting the plugs must be wrong or else I wouldn't have realized the packaging error and gone on thinking Volvo plugs are oddly not fit for my engine. I look forward to getting the correct ones and hopefully noticing a marked difference. |

B5254T2 should not be on the packaging they must be old stock . volvo do alter things now and again that is why it is best to buy from the dealer who always supplies the latest correct part .They have done away with the chassis number and model ranges and simplified things ! The number on the plugs is the PLUG number , they are not available separatly so ignore that number , your part number on the packet is the KIT number .. You have a 2003 B5254T2 ? so need kit 8692071

crikey, what a palava! you're right, more digging and I see 8692071 should be for my car.
Looks like I'll have to get these to satisfy my curiosity. |

the 8692071 for the conventional turbo which we have had since the T5 of 1994 And for the R engines from 2003 and and later 2005 and later turbos with extra long threads , they are probably the ones you have been given by mistake which could have wrecked your engine if you had fitted them and not noticed they were 1/4 " longer !

Fortunately doesn't feel broken, went out for a quick drive just now and the car feels awesome again, no hesitation or slight stutter in the rev range. So I'm happy sticking with these NGKs for now.

Ah, no, I don't have a fault, I had the wrong Volvo plugs fitted which caused the not quite perfect running. However, whilst I don't disagree that the volvo plugs (correct one of course) work perfectly, that is not to say that the NGK fitted does not either, so all I am saying is that if these are working perfectly fine what is the point of swapping them out?
I've wasted £40 on the wrong plugs and am now outside the EBAY guarantee, so I will have to lump it and run with these and then get the volvo ones when they are needed. |
