Steering box leaking
Hi, my steering box on my Amazon is leaking and despite trying that amazing Australian steering box lube Penrith it’s still leaking.
I’ve called around a few places and nobody I know wants to refurb the box. What are people doing when they have this problem? Travel at the wheel is well over 20mm which I have read is normal. Thanks |

Lower oil seal from Brookhouse £5.40. They have a full service kit with seals, gaskets and top and bottom bushes if you want to go the whole hog, £24. Shaft and gear no longer available.

Thanks, I’ve heard they are a nightmare to strip and repair though, have you ever tried?

The seals are not too bad of a job to do, just need a good pitman arm remover. get all the seals and gaskets as it is a job that should be done thoroughly.
Here is a good instructional video from Rob at Amazon Cars: play from the start for some reason it loads at 10 min for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwqF...ature=youtu.be Last edited by JP 1800; Aug 22nd, 2019 at 21:11. |

As above, once you've got the Pitman arm off it's not hard at all. You do need a really good puller though. Worth doing for sure.
