Unhappy Help it's raining inside my V70 !!

dripping down from the light cluster and on to the gear stick area.

I have no sunroof and I doubt it the windscreen.

As my drive is on a slight incline and I park facing downwards, I suspect that water is passing the hinge sear in the rear tailgate and running down the roof lining?

Is this a known issue, and is there a fix?

Many thanks

I'll go and get my brolly

I am afraid it could be the windscreen, search this thread for 'Windscreen Leak'

Being so far forward I agree with DEL6286 the windscreen sounds like the cause.

If it were any further back in the car I would have thought you would get some staining on the roof liner.

My only other guesses would be the roof rails or the shark fin antenna seal has gone.

You could ideally do with getting the internal roof liner off and have someone spray the car with a hose so you can sit inside and see where the leak is coming from.

OK I've read the sticky here now and after a very scientific test, agree it is the windscreen leaking - pushing on the glass from the inside and I can see sky, I may have even seen the falcon heavy doing a few orbits too!

As the screen is original volvo, why does it start leaking at 8 years old, surely the previous owners must have had some leaking?

Hi,

Apparently the Swedish dealers, as agreed with Volvo Sweden, have an agreed test for this issue.

If the dealer can film water pouring into the car whilst being doused from outside, Volvo Sweden pay for a refit of the screen.

I would take this up with your Volvo dealer initially to make a claim for the refit of the screen.

But see the outcomes in the thread and I would be contacting BOTH VCUK and Swedish HQ to complain vociferously.

Des. . .

I wondered the same thing with mine. My guess is that after about 8 years, components such as the sealant and rubber strips 'harden' a bit and allow a slight gap to form, possibly at certain temperatures.

To clarify, there is sealant inside all 4 edges of your windscreen. The fault is that Volvo didn't apply a primer to the top edge of the glass which means after a while, the sealant no longer adheres to the glass. Autoglass demonstrated this to me when they replaced my windscreen last year.

The primer Volvo used for a while wasn't good. It took them a couple of years or so to figure that out. That's why they are replacing the windscreens for free now. At least here, in Sweden...

Take it to your main dealer. If its original screen they will (should) offer to rebond it for free. They will warn you it could break so you should contact your insurance company first to confirm your windscreen cover will take care of it.
