Default £260 for an oil and filter change?

Just been quoted this by my local dealer, whose hourly rate is now £160/hour. Am I mad or are they?

This time you're the mad one for going anywhere near.
They know exactly what they are doing.

It takes max 30 min to lift the car and drain it. Maybe they meant it's a more complete service ?

But you know, they are selling their cars with little profit, so there you go, that's where the company makes the actual profit.

It's my car's annual service - includes Volvo assist, and a 'health check' (doesn't include my sanity though methinks)....

Not sure...

Plusses - I get the stamp in my service book, Volvo Assist for another year, hopefully decent/knowledgeable mechanics
Minuses - DO WOT HOW MUCH?!?!

Wouldn't mind but they would not 'quote me happy' and said it was already a Volvo Club member price

How much would 1 year roadside assistance (and possible vehicle delivery to a garage that you know) for the car and occupants cost? Deduct that.

Your 'annual service' at what mileage? Consumables?

My car was 'serviced' by a garage before I purchased it yet within a couple of months the air filter was blocked and in an awful state, shredded apparently!

If you trust your local indie, go for it. If you trust Volvo then perhaps the extra cost is worth the peace of mind.

Ya pays ya money and ya takes your chances...…….

Yeah, support a nice decent indy @ £60 per hour, plus oil & filters, then price up breakdown cover...

So you are paying the Volvo Assist insurance, and for that stamp hoping it will better the resale value. If they say something needs be fixed, may want to get a second opinion or fix it at an indy garage.
