Default Engine management light

Hi Guys.

The engine management light came on today while driving at 70mph on cruise control. Car is running fine, continued for another 70 mile faultlessly.

Is there a way to retrieve the code without a scanner or turn it off?

cheers

M

In amazon search for OBD scanner. They came up at £20. Otherwise this link on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Diagno...item3f0fcf54d1

A lot of us have these and they are simple to use. Plug in, search faults, gives you a code, for example P0121, look in the manual that comes with the scanner (numerical thousands of codes) it'll tell you what the code means. P0121 - O2 sensor.

Then you can ckearit off and turn the light off. Obviously the light will re-illuminate when the ecu finds the fault again.

Hope this helps.

But they are just generic codes, and don't really relate to Volvo ones do they?

You can clear the codes etc with them, but they don't give the correct codes I was told?

I ordered a bluetooth obd reader thusday to use with my phone and torque app. funny how these things happen. will have to wait until tuesday when its due.

With the other readers, if they do give youba generic code just google it and you'll find it.

OBDII reader came today.

Work brilliantly. Gave the fault - Ignition coil D.

Cleared the fault code. Just need to wait and see if it comes back.
