Nice instant torque from a RV8, they sound really good and its probably lighter than Volvos red block plus turbo. Expensive to tune though so if you just want power stick with the turbo lump.

I have driven a v8 rover powered ford capri, (same weight as a 940)
it was a load of rubbish, a std 940 lpt with boost valve and cone filter would easily out run one. Rover v8's are thirsty, unreliable, and always leak oil. At best you will get 160hp , spend fortunes on a cam, exhaust headers, re-bore, late heads and fuel injection, and then 220hp at most. |

You dont fit a Rv8 for ultimate power, you fit them because they are quite light and they look and sound delicious, one of the sweetest sounding stock V8s you could buy years ago.
My RV Eagle ran an early Rover V8 with twin SU's, it was rolling roaded at 150bhp dead on which is what Rover said it should make but I could kill any of the hot hatches around at the time, including the dreaded "white lightning" Escort Turbos.

The main performance advantage I see is a big fat power band. So you do more work during the period in any given gear. That is the advantage of the LPT of course, Loads of push when you want it without having to drop two gears. (Although one might help.)
