Its a plug & play, you can't get it wrong. Its no harder than changing a bulb.

Basically, take out the retaining clip for the bulb, put that around the hid bulb and clip it back in. Then just pop the two wires in the connector, and plug and play connectors for the ballast and you're done.

I always get mine from HIDS4U and HID Direct as I previously provided a link for.

I stopped using HIDS4U as despite the cost of their kits, their customer service was shocking when then sent me a kit with different coloured bulbs - they wanted me to pay to correct their mistake.

I have used HIDS Direct for many years now and their kits are perfect and customer support is spot on (should you need it). Based on this, ignore ebay etc and just get yourself something thats genuinley CE cerified etc from HID Direct. Approximate cost is £45 plus a few quid for shipping.

I can only imagine what a new pair must be like. If you're lucky enough to find a '03 to '05 C70 being broken in Spain then go for those headlamps!

I'm looking at LEDs/HIDs bulbs now to try and preserve the reflectors from further "heat" deterioration and increase light output but, unless you have a functioning headlamp cleaning and leveling system, you can run into problems at NCT/MOT/ITV inspections.

If you're after a quick fix I'd say just go with the ones off eBay.de (just use your eBay.co.uk username & password). I believe I spotted a pair of headlamps and 4 x H7 bulbs for under a hundred quid + postage. Fitting is around 30 mins total and you just need to swap out your height level motors from your existing lamps onto the new units.

Hi Baffler, Many thanks for that. I have found a pair of LHD headlights from Germany which work out to about £90.00 plus £5.00 for postage. I shall look to getting HID`s. thanks jack

Hi DSK, Thanks very much for the info. I have looked on google which shows that I need to make a hole in the centre of the plastic cover at the back of the bulb. Have I got this all round my neck or am I looking at the wrong thing. Appreciate your help. jack

yep that's right, but go no bigger than the hole size advised to ensure the rubber gromit gets a nice tight fit.

Hi DSK, Thanks for that. one final question please, The HID kits show H7 and H7R; both suitable for halogen headlights. You mentioned fitting H7R but can I fit either. thanks jack

If you have OEM specification reflector headlights or OEM crystal jewel as shown below, then you need H7R bulbs. (The 'r' on the end of H7R means these are the correct bulb type for these headlamps and prevents the glare).

OEM Reflectors

OEM Crystal Jewel

Mine with the premium 55W H7R 6000k kit (the camera phone makes it look glaring but it's not in reality)

ABM Projectors - you need H7 HID bulbs

As mentioned, the glare and annoyance is by people insisting on only paying £15-20 for a cheap HID kit, with the wrong bulb type for their headlamps/application and also not having the headlight aim checked afterwards (usually your local MOT place will do that free of charge for you).

ALSO I FORGOT TO MENTION, STICK WITH EITHER 5000k OR 6000k COLOUR TEMPERATURES.

5000k is pure white (and may be best option for ever changing MOT regulations).

6000K has a very, very faint blue tinge, I mean faint! so delivers good clarity and light. I have been running 6000K and its perfect as per the pictures.

Anything above this like 8000K - 12000K or higher, has poorer light out put and becomes blue/purple in colour and you look like an idiot who will also probably fail the MOT.

Hi DSK, Thank you so much for all your time and trouble. From all the info you have kindly supplied I think I shall go for a 35w, 5000 H7R. Hopefully that will give me two or three times brighter lights than the standard H7 halogen bulbs.
Thank you once again for all your help. regards jack.

The 35W 5000K H7R is a fine choice, i assure you, you will be happy provided you buy a decent quality certified kit.

I only just realised you are outside the UK
