Unhappy C30 1.6D drive ECM-2A40 fault

Hi, I'm new to the forum and desparate. this is my first post!

My 2010 C30 1.6D drive has developed a fault. I have operated this for the last 10months not hanging about, running to the book, good mix of roads NO short journeys. end of May (with 28k on the clock) at operating temp and at 50mph it refused to respond to throttle and the engine was limited to 3000rpm with minimal power - no messages no fault lights displayed I stopped after 10 miles started again fault light showed but still no message. phoned dealer assured it was safe. drove 160 miles to dealership (yes 160!) mainly motorway still no message no improvement - was told it was soot filter they regenerated it (for £70) said it was fault ECM-2A40 particulate trap not a warranty issue sent me on my way. have driven 500 miles since mainly motorway and guess what same stretch of road same time of day same day of the week no power no warning light no message. drove 10 miles stopped started up warning light on, no message. phoned Volvo who effectivelty told me I was driving the car wrongly or using it for short journeys and it is all my fault referred me to the owners handbook. booked into agents (nearer this time) monday to look at issue Any one an idea of the problem. I dont like paying £70 every 500 miles to unblock a filter that is not blocked - I thought these machines were reliable - make me believe again!

I have had to alter my driving style with Volvo. I have had dpf issues with them and was told I am too careful a driver and not to keep the car at the same revs.My driving style is average and mixed urban/motorway/country lanes and I neither drive at the same constant speed nor under rev. What I find myself having to do now from time to time is drive like I am in a race!

Regards

This code as you say indicates the particle filter is blocked/restricted . It determines this by the pressure in the filter read out by it's pressure sensor, . I would change the pressure sensor as your problem is intermittant and have a very close look at it's two hoses , they can burn through at the front near the radiator .

I doubt very much that the particle filter is faulty .

also you dont need to do any particular regeneration process , it will start when it needs to when you are cruising along at 50 mph .. no revs or high speed needed just time .
