The turbo is hard to remove on the xc90 due to the 4wd box and propshaft and exhaust in the way-i did try and remove myself and ended up taking it to a volvo indy who did it for me -he said it's a pig to do on these as the engine has to be slightly dropped to be able to get it out from above between the engine and the bulkhead, but he always removes and checks the oil feed pipe etc for blockages otherwise he said it would fail due to oil starvation even though mine was clear, and he cleans the feed pipe and renews all the gaskets related to the turbo and feed pipe etc,due to me taking it there i got him to order and get the new turbo,he does not cut corners and uses genuine volvo parts,it was ordered directly from sweden and says volvo sweden on the new turbo, regarding the old one i did see it but i did not inspect it thoroughly or ask for it back,so don't know any of the information.
Before i took it there i checked for any play in the bearing and it seemed fine so it must have been the other parts in it which were faulty?,all i know is the new one is gleaming new and the car is back to as new again, hope it stays that way-regards

Hi Cian

Are you in the businesses of fixing Volvos?

Are you allowed and would you disclose your business name?
