Default T5 rough when cold

Dear all,

I've posted before about a 'dragging' which my '96 T5 manual with 130K miles exhibits under moderate load.

I've noticed now that when driving from cold, the hesitation is a lot more obvious and to depress the throttle pedal further makes the situation worse.

I never drive it hard from cold, but these cars warm up so quickly and then I'm back to the normal symptoms, which are less obvious.

Does this still sound like perished turbo vacuum lines? I'm going to swap the sparks out tomorrow for the Champion platinum ones though doubt this will make a lot of difference.

Perished turbo vacuum lines won't help.
But this could also be weak HT.
Try a check/ clean/ replacement of all the HT parts and make sure the earth point near the coil is sound, wire back to the battery if necessary.
