Probably been done on the main forum, but you can now look up any car's MOT history with just the reg and make - don't need the V5 any more. That means you can look up cars you used to own and see if they're still alive and if not, what killed them. Fun for a while!

Just checked mine, seems it was off the road for 6 years before I bought it! Then again it was stored in a garage until the old chap went off to a home..

Checked my old T5 that my father now owns, I know the car has had private plates in its life, this seems to confuse the website! I think it shows every mot of the reg, including mots of the vehicle the private reg has been on other than the T5.

Plus doesnt seem to show anything for my 240 pre 2013. weird.

Good find. Id been looking for the MOT history page but it said it wasn't available.

My old 240 is off the road on SORN. Looks like it failed its MOT in May this year on a few trivial things but has failed each year on more and more things since I sold it which shows a lack of proper maintenance.

Poor thing.

If your car has had a plate change then try searching under the VIN as it should then link to all registrations.

It's very handy to have that available online now.

I've been on the lookout for a car recently and looking at some dealers websites it is surprising (or maybe not) how many cars are sold with 12 months MOT but the advisory notes are pretty damming.

One I was interested in had advisories on all shockers, brake pipes and body corrosion. This was on a £10,000 Jag XK8 and described as full service history and immaculate...

I know previously you could look over the paperwork and last MOT but this now saves a lot of wasted journeys viewing.
