Default D5 engine swap

Considering an engine swap from a V70 to a XC90. Both cars are 2009 and the engine codes are the same. Anything to be wary of like different size sumps etc?

I don't think the p3 v70 engines fit the xc90. Clan would be a more knowledgeable scource on this, hopefully he can answer you more clearly but I'm almost certain it's the late p2 engine you want.

In that case what's the point of the 1001 engine codes Volvo use just because of the slightest variation. Either the engine codes are the same and therefore the same engine or the code system can't be trusted.

You might find the castings are the same but many of the brackets, ancillaries etc my be different due to the variations of a pure Volvo platform with a discreet subframe and the later FoMoCo derived platform.

no the , V70 version is mounted from the head at the top , the xc 90 sits on 2 big rubber mounts to the subframe . The castings are different ..
