Default Volvo S80 petrol 2000

Hi there is a slight grating noise coming from the front left and right when turning the steering (not all the time) the steering bump stops are OK, i can't see any rubbing on the inner wings, can anyone help,thanks.

Do you mean that you get the grating noise from actually turning the steering wheel? Or, that once the steering wheel is turned to a point and held there, then you get the grating noise whilst driving along?

I'd suspect CV joints..

How old the car is (and mileage), do you know when they (CV joints) were last replaced?

Brake pads can touch normally rusted rotors and make grating noises.

The front discs and pads are new, it is a 2000 model,
drives fine in a strait line when turning half to three quarter lock there is
a slight grating noise for a second, (more so when turning right) not rubbing
on inner wings, wheel bearings OK, i'm not sure what it could be,i would like
any help thanks.
