After Market Tinting
Hi all,
My long awaited D4 Vea is only 7 days away. But the more i see others on the road, the more i am starting to regret not getting privacy glass. does anyone have any thoughts about after market fitting?

I didn't get privacy glass but, based on experience, got dealer fit IR reducing film (which I could probably have got cheaper afterwards, but couldn't be bothered with the fiddling around). I actually prefer the look of this to privacy glass, especially when the privacyglass is restricted to the rear windows.

For reasons not clear to me, laminated side glass and tints were incompatible options when I placed my order, so I went for laminated and got a local firm to apply film to the three windows around the boot space, C-pillar back. It's absolutely fine and would have no hesitation in doing it again. I went for the grade one-down from the drug-dealer tint.

Try it first
Wait and try it first .You have probably done yourself a big favour not getting tinted glass ,give it a bit of time and you will appreciate the clarity of all round vision on dark gloomy English days.

I have the made to measure blinds, I think they're great as I can take them in and out within 30 secs. To my mind it's the best of both worlds, however I know people who have tints really like them.
In the winter time I really like having the lighter interior and better visability. |

I did not have the privacy glass fitted to my XC60 as I don't like it, but what I do have is the Volvo sun blinds which you can remove/refit as you require.

We had tints put in our last XC60 and it was the best thing we did to it. Kept the kids from moaning and meant we didn't have to keep putting blinds on and off, it also kept the car a bit cooler as well. We are having our new one done next week. The only advice I would give is don't be tempted to go too dark or the car will feel gloomy and be awkward in the dark, we had a choice of one equivalent to Landrovers' (too dark for us) or a lighter one more comparable to Volvo/BMW etc which worked out perfectly.

I had my Discovery 3 tinted from the B post back. It was pefect for what I wanted to achieve. Once the pennies have stacked up in the jar I'll get my V60 tinted. Again I'll get from the B post back done. As much for security as keeping the rear cool for the dog

I got after market tints and it keeps the car cooler for the dog, and since I went a bit lighter it doesn't suffer from the pimp mobile / drug dealer look!

I had a really dark tint in my V50 a few years ago, looked really good. but it did make it almost impossible to see out of the rear window in the dark to reverse. Was on the car when i got it.
Then had lighter tint on BMW 3 series touring. Didn't have tint on last car, Kia Sportage, but now thinking that tinted windows on a black R design XC60 would just look the business... hmm i will give it a few weeks and then evaluate i think.
