Default 2003 2.0T white smoke from exhaust and dropping fuel

Hi all,

Earlier in the week I picked up a 2003 2.0T, test drove it and all was fine, seems to be a good runner during the two test drives I gave it. Recently passed MOT (Sep 2023)

I was driving yesterday and noticed that when idling there was white smoke coming from the exhaust. Lifted the bonnet, no smoke coming from there (it was hot so I didn't go poking about too much).

I also noticed that then Miles -->0 info on the screen was dropping quite quickly, it went from like 165 down to 150 pretty quickly, I only went across town (max 4 miles distance) and wasn't doing much stop/start. Appreciate this can be base don how you drive, but the needle seemed to be going down fast too.

I'm meant to be driving from South Coast up to B'ham next week, and was going to hold any judgement till I've done the trip there and back again.

Meanwhile, anything I should look out for?

Cheers

That is not unusual at this time of year it is water vapour from the effects of combustion, It should go once the engine and exhaust are fully warm.

You cant judge fuel consumption over a 4 mile drive especially if the engine hasn't warmed up fully see above..
