Exclamation Rub strip woes

Just thought I'd post this as it's a common question about the removal of rubstrips (myself included)
I finally got it together and removed the rubstrips from my car today. May I just warn anyone thinking of undertaking a similar thing to beware. It would now appear that my car may have undergone a minor bang and had some dodgy body work undertaken. The car was Hpi clear when I bought it so noones claimed on it but I had a peeling incident.
Upon removing the strips I found some deep scarring to the paint work then a huge chunk of the lovely paint came away with the rub strip. I can only assume someones resprayed it and covered up bits and generaly been a bit of a con artist. I'm now stuck with a scruffy looking car and either a bill or some paint work to do myself. So beware. Other than that it looks quite nice

Its not uncommon to find repairs like this. A friend makes a living just from repairs to minor light damage like this. As everyone wants a cheap repair, panels are straightened where possible not replaced. Fairly large amounts of filler are necessary and the repair is not designed to cope with removal of trim fitted to them. Any trim removal even on a "virgin" car will almost certainly require some spraying work.

Yeah followed the instructions exactly its just the paint on the left hand side of the car wasn't having any of it! It'll be fun doing the repairs thogu and I can do the bumpers while I'm there too! All I have to do is find the paint

Don't know if this is advertising but if you take your paint code to Halfords they will mix the exact match for you for just under £10.
