Default Hissing from engine when accelerating

Car: XC60 D4 2017.

Last week my car started making a hissing from the engine area when accelerating (only when warm). When I googled it, intercooler and turbo pipe/hose split came up. I looked all over but could not find anything. Weird thing is it now has stopped.
Heres my thoughts, any advise welcome.

Could it be my car regenerating the diesel particulate filter. I was towing a caravan when it started and it was under load.

Sadly, no thoughts, but I noticed mine doing this yesterday.

Under medium acceleration, it almost sounds like the demister has been turned on, but it raises with engine speed.

Engine warning light also came on (code 009), so I’d turned down the radio to pay more attention, it may have been doing it a while.

Fuel consumption has also dropped over last few days, i thought it might be the DPF running too - or perhaps not clearing properly.

Sounds like an air leak if the revs are going up.

@ OP have a look and smell between the engine and gearbox, if it's fume smelling you probably have a cracked egr pipe and the crack was acting like a whistle until it got bigger, best time to check is from stone cold. You probably won't be able to see the split in the metal pipe but if the smell is there it's split, it goes at the rippled vibration sections. hth.

Had this on my xc90 several years ago and it was the charge pipe split which on mine ran under the engine. Was a pig to fix and my Indie Tech had to lift the engine to replace it but has been fine for about 5 years now.

Classic symptom sounds like a steam engine but wont go above 40 mph.

Snail slow to pull away from stop.

I've got DPF but I dont think Regen makes a noise when happening just maybe smoke from behind.
Regen on mine usually goes un-noticed.
