Ok all fixed up and running, but on petrol only i think.
when switch is over to left red light (B)? is on when switch over to right red light still on and orange above (G) Gas? flashes and then stays on.
There also seems to be possibly another light above the orange but this does not light.

Hi Dai thanks for your reply.

No they don't seem to be clicking, should the B (what does that stand for?) light be on all the time, even when the orange is displayed ?

Checked again, there is no power output from the blue wire in the multi block at the back of the switch.

The switch had been working fine before remove so it should still be ok.

At what point did you check for power from teh blue wire and by what means?

That would suggest a problem with the switch.

Have you checked the other wires for power just in case.

Is the RPM wire connected to teh negative directly on the coil?

Brown, Red and Purple all show output. Brown is connected to the coil along side blue wire opposite red and white.

"Brown is connected to the coil along side blue wire opposite red and white."

Sorry poorly phrased, the brown wire is connected on the same connection as the red and white alongside the blue wire.
