I had the "turn your lights off please sir" when I was driving onto the Eurostar, I replied... "it's a Volvo sir"

Im suprised that he hadn't noticed this before as Im sure Im not the only one to have taken a Volvo through the sewer pipe to France

& "Sir".... I've been called many things before... Sir isn't usually one of them... I work for a living driving a 44 Tonne Volvo FH16.... Sir indeed!!!!

Hasn't happened for *ages*, but some tit in a micra flashed their lights at me tonight, since we were just approaching each other down a long single-carriageway straight the only reason I can think is because my headlights were on in daylight. <sigh>

Cheers,
John

PS We do drive on the right in the UK, yeah?

"Errr your lights are on" reply with "yeah i know" and carry on walking away you get some really funny looks

A few other cars have some day light running lights (DRL's) incorporated nowadays as well, not just Volvo's, can't remember which ones but i have seen it in the spec lists. I do think that having them on does help make you stand out that little bit more as so many idiots still fail to spot some usual everyday traffic.

If she was a nice looking girl I hope you got her phone number

I've had 4 Volvos now over a 25 period,

Has anyone else noticed that the DLR get brighter with each new model. My XC90 has full dipped headlights on as well the sidelights.

I'm wondering what the next step will be.

I had a guy shade his eyes coming towards we one DAY - I knew I was not dazzling him, and treated him with contempt he deserved.
Cheers,
Jeff.

I remember a lad at school who's dad has some weird set up - must have been a mod I think.

Basically he would get out with the engine running all the windows/sun roof open. He'd hit the remote to lock the doors and alarm the car, and the thing would close all the windows, and sunroof and turn it'self off!

Many of the newer models that are coming out have DRL's that actually dim during the day, so they have the same benefits but draw less power ( so use less fuel - so they do actually use more "electricty") and have longer bulb life.

As well as people saying I've got my lights on during the day, I often use the "safe home" lights so people say I've left my lights on which I always found wierd as it's a bit hard to not see you've left them on when it's dark and they are on full beam with the fogs on as well!
Couple of times I've clicked my fingers and they turned off! Naturally had my finger on the button in my pocket!

Had fun with a collegue in the carpark at work too, I saw her walk away then turn to lock her car but seemed to be having problems, so I unlocked mine (I was parked next to her) and she looked down at the remote when she pointed it and clicked again, I locked mine. This happened a few times with her becoming even more curious as to what was happening. Next I turned the lights on and off etc - then set the panic alarm off!

Was absolutle hilarious. She spent the day telling people what had happened and maybe they were on the same frequency etc. I told her a few hours later and she gave me a good kicking!

Cracking day!
