Was that at a main dealer?

Below transcription from chat

I am sorry about this, you were previously advised correctly. Volvo Assistance is applied for 12 months at a time following a service, and an app subscription will renew if you are due to expire in the next 6 months

All done at Riverside Doncaster today along with the MOT.

240 quid all told for the box fluid change, 50 quid for the MOT and a tenner for the hire car insurance (I forgot my certificate). So 300 all in - I have paid bigger bills......

In July it is due major service and cambelt. They quoted me about £1250 for service and cambelt, so I will do some ringing round closer to the time and see if I can bring them down a bit.

Only other things I am wondering about are:-

PAS fluid?
Brake fluid?
Coolant?

Also not sure about the radiators to cool the batteries. Are they on a separate circuit to the main coolant circuit (I assume so). Is it sealed for life? Is it just coolant or something more akin to R22?

It is a separate cooling circuit using normal Volvo coolant , have you found the reservoir in the back?

Didn't even know there was such a thing as transmission oil.

My 2016 S90 has 53,000 on the clock

No, whereabouts is it?

Also, what is your opinion on the value of changing: Engine coolant; brake fluid or PAS fluid?

I'm not sure if our cars even have PAS fluid as the system is driven electrically rather than by hydraulics?

Brake fluid should be checked for water absorption every 2 or 3 years and replaced if necessary. Here's the type of tool required:

I don't know if dealers check this during a service. Also don't know if there's a mileage/time requirement to change the fluid these days.

every 2 years is in the volvo service schedule as a recommended , not an automatic option , it has been for many years .

I might just ask the garage to check the brake fluid for me when I have the big service in the summer. They never seem keen to upsell brake fluid changes so I am confident of an honest response.

As for PAS yes it is electric, but I (quite possibly incorrectly) assumed the electric motor ran the compressor pump for the hydraulics. Maybe it just directly assists the steering column instead which I guess would make sense with the automatic steering maybe running off the same motor. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks
