SRS code and resetting
i have a 2003 V40 with an airbag warning light on.
I have an MD801 diagnostics tool which gives me a code for the drivers seat airbag (A common fault with the connectors under the seat, I know) and 2 other codes that will not reset. The codes are FFFF and EE1B. Every time I try and reset them, I get the message "that function is not supported". The last time this happened, I also had the squib in the steering wheel fail, so I bought a secondhand SRS module on ebay and everything was fine. 6 months later and the FFFF and EE1B are back again and will not clear. I did a bit of searching on the net, but not much came up. Does anyone here have any experience with these codes ? |

I used to have the Autel EU702 reader which is the previous version of yours. It would reset the SRS light with no issues when everything was ok, but not when the actual module was faulty.
There are two reasons your SRS light will not go away. Either because the fault that comes up is permanent and not intermittent, or because the module is faulty. Only way to tell for sure, is by using the actual Volvo VIDA with the DiCe, as it will show if the SRS module is faulty with the SRS-0001 error code, which the MD801 will not show.

thanks for the reply. When I changed the swuib last time, the problem would not go away until I fitted a secondhand SRS module so I guess it was a faulty module that time. I am guessing I have just been unlucky and the replacement module didnt last that long. another £40 down the drain, nvm !

I am not saying that it is the SRS module for sure. It is possible. The problem is that the MD801 cannot tell you if it is the module that is faulty

yeah I get that, but the MD801 has reset SRS codes before with no problem so i'll change the Squib first again just in case and then if the codes still wont reset, i'll try a replacement SRS module

Yes, I know. It will happily reset intermittent Srs codes, provided that the SRS module is fine. If however the fault is permanent or the SRS module is faulty, then it can't do anything, nor can the Volvo DiCE. The only difference really between the two of them is that the DiCE will show the SRS-0001 error, whereas the MD801 won't
