The plastic cover is quite large, and covers well beyond the nut itself. Insert a short screwdriver to the outer edge of the cover, the outermost part of which is where the red dot is in the image.

From the factory it pops out really easily, but then you never know, maybe the PO put some glue in there.

Maybe grab a long steel rod some 5-10mm dia. and sharpen one end then try to pierce the cover and pry it out.

May also try to remove the cover and the box around the two ECU modules as in the video linked above, to make more space and attach the cover at a different angle. Careful as the middle section of the box slides rather difficult off the two modules, press down on the modules while lifting the box.

There is no glue in there. The plastic cover clips on. This is about applying the correct light leverage in the right location. The cover will lever-off. You don't need any additional space. A short flat screwdriver will remove it.

Wow, I have no advice to give except to persevere...what a pain in the @@@. Of all items to get stuck on this is particularly annoying. As an alternative, could you cut some of the backside off of your t60 bit so that you can give yourself more working room? That or you could go buy or make one of these:

Thanks! so much the last picture where someone make a red dot I went to Halfords and bougt the longest flat screwdriver I could find and it finally came of!

Goodness.. now stuck on the next big problem here..

You know the power steering pump that has the nuts, one of them won't come loose and it broke my tools, that's how stuck it is.. So I can't replace my steering pump. On what I thought to be an hour work.. is now eating me up for 3 days.. Uugh

Finally did it! Took some effort but will be peanuts next time

Only the issue is still the very same. Steering feels very heavy.

Other than replacing the power steering pump I am not sure of what else.. Hope it's not the power steering rack.. There is no weird sound when I steer it's just heavy..
Any ideas of what it might be than?

Thanks

Maybe check the reservoir, early models had an issue with a piece breaking loose inside.

Other than that, it may be the lower coupler, a seized bearing inside the floor dust boot, wrong fluid, or seized strut mount bearings (especially on high mileage cars).

If right where the steering column meets the rack you see an electric wire, the electric assist module may have failed.
