Default Volvo 131 for sale

I have decided to sell my 1969 Volvo 131. It is a 1 owner (before me) vehicle. Unfortunately the exterior has suffered from being stored in a garage with a sheet over it. This has trapped moisture between the paint and the sheet and caused surface rust on the roof and bonnet. In the almost 4 years I have owned the car it has not deteriorated.

During my ownership I have carried out the following work:

Engine: Steel Timing gear fitted. Cylinder head skimmed, valves re-lapped. Carburettor rebuilt. Regularly serviced. Simons exhaust fitted.

Suspension: Spax springs and KYB Gas-A-Just dampers (monotube) fitted as well as all suspension bushes replaced with Poly or rubber depending on location. All steering and suspension ball joints replaced as well as steering box oil.The steering box is very good on this vehicle. 5.5" wide wheels with Avon ZV5 tyres.

Drivetrain: Gear oil and differential oil changed. Clutch changed, Prop centre bearing changed. Front discs replaced as well as pads. All flexi hoses replaced as well as many solid pipes (replaced with kunifer). Rear shoes, springs and handbrake cables replaced. One front and two rear wheel bearings replaced.

Interior: The back seat has been replaced for a very good item. Unfortunately both front seats have rips as shown in the photos. The dash already had a modern stereo fitted when I bought it. I have replaced it with a better JVC unit in black.

I had intended to buy an Amazon in better condition than this. However after looking at some very poor cars at the £2-3k price point I bought this and spent a lot of money on the mechanicals. It is a a very nice body requiring minimal work and a respray. Unlike a lot of amazons the top of the flitch panels are solid as is the underneath. The seam between the bottom of the rear quarter and the panel behind the mudflap has a small hole. The previous owner has repaired the very rear of the rear wheel arches and these need re-doing. They had also replaced the front wings with genuine Volvo items. There is very extensive service history and receipts with the car.

I have had almost 4 years of very happy motoring in this car and would like it to go to an enthusiast. I am asking £1,700 but would consider an exchange with a good condition Volvo 240 or 740 Estate.

Here are some more photos from my just after getting the car. I will get more shortly.

I forgot to mention that the car has 11 months MOT. It also has an uprated front anti roll bar with new drop links. The alternator has been replaced for a Volvo 440 75A unit (Lucas LRA585). The engine and gearbox mounts are new and the mechanical fan has been replaced with a kenlowe unit in front of the rad. I still have the original anti-roll bar, alternator and fan. The original alternator control box is still in place.

The last two photographs show my Volvo parked in the background for the BBC's "Holy Flying Circus" documentary about the makings of Monty Pythons flying circus.

The veedub brigade would pay extra for the patina on the body work like that.
Considering some of the tat I have looked at lately that is a very good price.
Good luck with the sale.

Thank you, I've managed to get out in some daylight for some more pictures. They show the worst part of the car which is the rear bootwell/rear quarter seam. I have both repair sections for this area but never got around to it. The rest of the boot looks a bit grubby but is pretty solid! The spare wheel well has a rusty bit at the bottom but hasn't even been mentioned on the MOT.
