The joys of using a generic replacement! Highly probable the one you've just bought is in fact correct fitement for the Volvo, whereas the 65A was a generic replacement unit. Could be you're having to reverse the previous modification.

At Volvo original, with alternator on the left side of the engine (left in direction of driving forward ) there are at minimum 2 different brackets. One "straight" and the other "bent". Depends on the type of alternator.
Additionally the B2xx used in 240's. The idiotic part in this case of both, owner and dealer, is to buy/sell a part and don't know about the (possibility of) difference between the mounting. Good luck, Kay |

Now it won’t accelerate. It won’t go past 3000rpm on acceleration. In secondgear it won’t accelerate. It backfires and cannot go past 3000rpm ??? It just happened all of the sudden. Completely random. I have no idea why When I enable my led bar, it will accelerate, and when I switch it off. It will not accelerate Last edited by Volvo940GL; Feb 19th, 2020 at 18:31. |

Should it make sense? I simply changed alternator to test out why my dashboard lights are on. So I changed to a 100ampere one. Tried it. Test drove it. It wouldn’t rev higher than 3000rpm Changed to my old alternator 65ampere again. It solved my issue with the acceleration problem. But the lights came back. It didn’t come back on 100a alternator Is this any clue? Or does it even make sense? |

I'd make a guess the ECU is toast. Did you remove fuse #1 after replacing the alternator and did you make sure the battery was fully charged?

A light bar Ash, as favoured my Jeep owners and similar as the original lights are poop and they need a shed-load of extra lighting to see the road or lack of!
