940 CR-906 radio MP3 connectivity
I thought I would share this information for any one who like me wants to listen to MP3 music but keep their original radio.
I tried using one of those cassette tape conversions and a FM transmitter but found them unreliable. Whilst trawling the net for solution and looking for a compatible CD changer to connect into the back I came across this piece of kit: http://www.yatourcarkits.com/volvo-s...our-p-158.html Has any one tried it yet? They are also available on Ebay fro £50.00. Have bought one, will let the group know if it is any good. |

Hi,
$50-$100 dollars - apparently... Here. Be interesting to know how well it works and how you need to organise the music on the memory device. You can get alot of music on a 250Gb HDD.. Des. . .

You can get a head unit that will play MP3 for 50 quid from Halfords anyway, so why muck about with an adapter?
My pioneer has a Parrot Bluetooth hands free kit built into it, it even streams music direct from my phone via Bluetooth, will play MP3 and WAV from USB or 7.5 mm jack lead, I-pod, mobile phone or off CD or DVD and it sound better than the stock Volvo set up and was only a £120.

I have 5171 tracks uploaded on Google Play Music and its about 35 gig or just over 15 days continuous play without repeating. :S Actually, to add to my point in the post above, my Pioneer can stream music from my phone, that my phone is retrieving from the internet (It works for internet radio stations as well, I have an unlimited data plan) so I have access to all 5000 odd tracks without having to actually carry any music in the car.

I agree that modern sound systems are superior and I fitted a modern CD player in my '88, 740 GLE estate several years ago but it never looked as neat as the original Volvo unit. So if there is an alternative that offers even more options than a CD I would be really interested to hear how it works out. Keep us posted laddog.

Hi,
Quote:
So somewhere near 50 days of non-stop music! Someone please tell me why I listen to the same 50 tracks or so!! LoL And what was mentioned re appearance is one key factor in keeping the standard unit. Some of the new units really do look bling! Des. . .
